Rob Taylor is the founder of 2TravelDads, the original LGBT Family Travel blog. Focusing on ecotourism and education, 2TravelDads inspires LGBT families (and traditional families also) to go beyond their usual getaways and use travel to learn about and be part of a bigger world. "Traveling the globe and giving the kids a broad worldview."
In addition to 2TravelDads, Rob is the creator of PaddleYourState.com, MyAlohaTrip.com and several other trusted travel resources. Having lived all around the USA, responsible travel focusing on education as a source of adventure is at the core of his work. Maine, Alaska, Hawaii and the Florida Keys are all such special destinations that focusing on sustainable and educational tourism in these places is the goal of most of Rob's work. And then of course exploring the wilderness and cities with his kids in tow is always a driving force in his writing.

When you travel with kids a lot, you tend to do a lot of the same activities, but in different towns and cities. I feel like I’ve been to the same park a thousand […]
To be honest the reason we went to Denver wasn’t actually for my cousin’s wedding… It was actually to go to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. We are dads. That means that we […]
We’ve become aficionados when it comes to traveling without technology and instant communication, which is funny because when we’re at home we’re connected so easily. Being in the grand blogosphere we’re told about all […]
Family travel is just different from business or solo travel in general and if you’ve never gone traveling with kids this all might seem very foreign to you, but that’s okay. Let us enlighten you as to what checking into a hotel with kids is actually like and why we feel the need to share family travel tips about it.
Fort Worden State Park is one of the coolest places to visit on the Olympic Peninsula. Located in Port Townsend, it’s THE place to go when you visit, whether you’re there in summer or […]
We pride ourselves on giving honest and positive reviews of the hotels we visit, the parks we go to, the restaurants we dine in… but now it’s time to share one that’s not so […]

There are few things that we’re just suckers for: lighthouses, bathrobes, and waterfalls. When you’re heading to the mountains to go hiking, you can only count on getting one of those boxes checked off, […]
So, you know we love our National Parks. One of the most fun things we do when we go to a National Park, and this might sound kind of strange because it’s so small, […]
Wanderlust runs deep in our family! As two dads raising two sons, we believe in giving them a passport to the world. Our adventures blend iconic landmarks with hidden gems, creating a rich tapestry of travel, parenting, and cultural immersion. We never shy away from a new discovery, ensuring each journey keeps us learning and growing together.
Every place you visit has different versions of itself. We want to share a Venice flashback with you, as there is so much more to the city than the thousands of tourists marching single file across tiny foot bridges. Our Venice travel stories are happy, peaceful ones.

Originally written for GaysWithKids.com When people ask us where our favorite places to return to for family travel are, we’re pretty quick with our answers: Cabo San Lucas, Disneyland, Georgia/Florida… Georgia and Florida? Like, […]
Confession: we went somewhere without the kids. Yep. And we didn’t feel bad about it. Well, maybe a little bad. But, we showed up at the Hyatt Olive 8 and they welcomed us swiftly. We […]
Our family is all about the beach and you know we #LoveFL. At home, we live across the street from the beach. We go on weekend trips to the beach. We go walking on […]
The best Georgia Coastal cuisine we’ve ever had is at Echo St Simons, on property at the King and Prince Resort. From fresh and local dished to modern takes on traditional low country cooking, see why Echo is one of the best restaurants on the Georgia coast.
Beyond pirates and forts in Saint Augustine, we are always excited to experience alligators in Florida. Alligators are our families favorite animal…next to sharks and manatees. When we found out about the St Augustine […]
The Casa Marina Hotel in Jacksonville Beach, Florida reopening as the “grand lady” the Casa Marina was when she first welcomed guests to Jacksonville Beach 70 years prior. In 2005, the National Trust for Historic Preservation added the Casa Marina as one of the Historic Hotels of America, giving it a new lease on life and an avenue to attract guests.
Unless this is your first time visiting our blog, you know that we LOVE aquariums. We will find time to visit them on 90% of our trips (when available). We were welcomed into the […]
Part of travel planning is finding suitable accommodations. We’re pretty rough and tumble, so for us this could be a campsite or a cabin in the woods sooner than it’d be a 5 start […]
When we travel, we’re always looking for things like quiet, clean air, a refreshing experience. Sometimes people question us: “Ooh, why haven’t you taken the kids to New York City yet? Wouldn’t Toronto be […]
Before we had two kids, we were bold with our travel choices. We could throw caution out the window and road trip through rural Mexico and get stopped and searched by armed military. We could visit friends in San Francisco and stay out until 3am. We could trek through Canada in the frozen winter… but now we don’t. Gay travel was whatever we wanted it to be. We still travel, but now we think about the little people who piggyback on our trips.
One of our favorite things to do when traveling is to watch the sunset. The mood changes, the people quiet down (usually) and you say goodnight to the sun. And we do a lot […]
Having two dads isn’t the norm. It’s true. But gosh, it would be nice if we ran into more families like ours out there. We do what we can to raise our kids just […]
